Tatton Park  SCARECROW FESTIVAL in the grounds of Tatton Park, Knutsford, WA16 6QN.  Over 30 Scarecrows will be displayed around the Tatton Gardens and Farmyard, special activities on Sunday 12th.  Open 11.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. last entry 3.00 p.m. (closed Mondays).  Entry prices for all attractions £8.00 (Adults), £4.00 (Child 4-14 years of age), £20.00 (Family – 2 Adults, 2 Children). SATURDAY 4TH

Clonter Opera Theatre  OPERA PRIZE. The U.K.’s major conservatories nominate their most promising singer to compete for the Clonter Opera Prize.   The nominees sing their three chosen arias during the first half and then the audience and Judging Panel have an opportunity to discuss and vote for their favourite singer.  At Clonter Opera Theatre, Swettenham Heath, CW12 2LR.  Tickets from £25.00, available from the Theatre Box Office 01260 224514.

Men will become birds, tears become rivers, and children whirl at the sylvan ball.
