Congleton WW1 Awareness & Engagement Group Activities Commemorating the 100 Year Anniversary of the First World War. ‘A SOLDIER’S GOODBYE’ has been written by local playwright David McCaddon and is set in Congleton; it tells the story of two local lads who are only 16 and volunteer to go off to war. Interspersed with music, poetry and images, featuring Biddulph Male Voice Choir in the Evening performances and Congleton Children’s Choir in the Matinee performance, Poetry items including a specially commissioned poem ‘Paid in Full’ by Congleton Poet John Lindley. Directed by David McCaddon and Annabell Hull.
