Yet another trophy - Team Congleton!

Congleton received another accolade this week…. Team Congleton was awarded an ‘Embrace the Games (2012) Award’ at the Cheshire and Warrington Sports Partnership Evening.

Three awards were given out in this category – one to the Vale Royal Schools Partnership representing Cheshire West and Chester, One to The Orford Park Project representing Warrington Area and one to Team Congleton representing Cheshire East.

The award was collected by Lisa Crisford from Plus Dane Housing – a key partner in Team Congleton - on our behalf.

Sebastian Coe: “We are thrilled to confirm that Congleton will act as a host location for the Olympic Flame, extending an invitation to people in the area to welcome the Olympic torch relay during its journey around the UK.

“This is the UK’s moment to shine and I want to encourage people across Cheshire East to start planning how they can be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity and show their support for the inspirational torchbearers chosen to carry the Olympic Flame as we count down to the start of the Olympic Games.”

Team Congleton is certainly doing its part!

Congleton to form
part of London 2012 Olympic torch relay route

The Olympic Flame will blaze a trail through Congleton as the country gears up for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

On the morning of May 31, 2012, people from Congleton and the surrounding area can join in the excitement of the arrival of the torch and celebrate the achievements of the torchbearers, as it arrives from Crewe and then moves on to Macclesfield and Knutsford.
