St Peter's Church

Tuesdays @ Ten - May 1st to August 21st 2012

St. Peter's in Chapel Street will be open every Tuesday morning from 10am - 1pm.  Visitors are welcome to visit this outstanding grade 1 listed Georgian church.

Some highlights;

May 22nd from 12.15pm - 1pm 

An informal concert of sacred motets and some rather less-than-holy madrigals singing of love and life four centuries ago in celebration of the first Queen Elizabeth,  brought to us by the Little Moreton Singers.  Come and enjoy coffee and cake from 11.30 am  Admission free. Come and go as you please.

June 5th  A special Diamond Jubilee Display

June 19th from 12.15pm - 1pm

Is it brainless to believe?  One astronomer's viewpoint.  An illustrated talk by Dr. Althea Wilkinson of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Manchester University, Jodrell Bank.  Admission free, coffee and cake from 11.30am.

June 26th from 12.15pm

A little light organ music by organists from the North Staffordshire Organists Association.   Coffee and cake from 11.30 am

 

 

Free lunchtime recital 19th July

Tuesday July 19th 12.15 pm - 12.45pm  lunchtime recital with soprano Judith McAuslan. 

Judith studied singing at the Royal Northern College of music and has sung extensively in concert, oratorio and opera throughout the U.K., Ireland and Italy appearing in festivals in Milan, London and Dublin. 

The St. Peter's recital will feature music by Gershwin, Copeland, Puccini and Delibes.  Judith will be accompanied by Gwen Jones, Musical Director of Biddulph Male Voice Choir.  

Entry is free, coffee and cake will be available.

Saturday June 16th  7. 30pm   Battle of the Organs

A spectacular concert featuring the international organist Carlo Curley on his touring Allen organ and popular concert organist Keith Hearnshaw at the St. Peter's organ.  There will be big screen HD video projection of the performance
