Another world record for CongletonOne rugby match lasting 24hrs, 30 mins, 6 seconds with two squads of 22 stretching their skills and stamina
At Congleton RUFC, Friday 22nd to Saturday 23rd July The Challenge Congleton Rugby club mounted a challenge to the existing 24 hour record for the longest game of Rugby Union ever played. The score Congleton Bears 715, Mali Lions 881 Who Benefits? The main beneficiary will be the Mali Initiative (www.mali-initiative.org ), a young organization with a mission to help communities in Mali, West Africa to realize their dreams. The other organisation to benefit is our own Mercian Regiment. In addition, the vision is to engage the local community, promote rugby and its values to young people and provide a promotional platform for sponsors. The Event What an exciting atmosphere that attracted a wide audience. And yes, there was a marquee with bar, barbeque, band, disco and fair attractions as well as other activities. |
