Beartown Went Spotty

Pudsey came to Beartown 14th November

Pudsey Bear, mascot of the BBC Children In Need campaign, and several of his friends arrived in Congleton for a week to raise money by turning the town spotty and dishing out hugs. And what’s more, TV cameras were here to record it all.

Passers-by were invited to donate money to be photographed having a big bear hug.

From 11.00 in the morning until 1.30 in the afternoon, collectors for Children in Need were out and about.

Debra Brown, chief executive of Global Hugs, a group dedicated to spreading hugs across the world and Dawn Gibbins, member of the town's Bear team, taught everyone how to give the Beartown hug at "hug spots" throughout the town.
