My Beartown wins regional acclaim - most innovative Market Town

Our My Beartown project, aimed at re-branding and promoting Congleton, has won a North West Market Town Award.

‘My Beartown – creating a brand for Congleton, developed by The Congleton Partnership, has won the Business and Economy category at this year’s awards.

Cheshire East Council provided financial and vocal support for the project, working with the volunteers to boost the economy and encourage community cohesion.

The presentation was held on Tuesday, at the Market Hall in Wigton.

The project is has won one of two awards for Cheshire East; The Middlewich Masterplan (Middlewich Vision) has claimed the ‘Partnership and Strategic Working category.

Cheshire East Council Leader, Councillor Wesley Fitzgerald said: “This is great achievement for everyone involved in The Congleton Partnership. I am proud to say Cheshire East Council has been involved in the project and has such a successful working relationship with everyone at My Beartown.”

Cheshire East Council Chief Executive, Erika Wenzel, added: “This is only what the project deserves. Congleton is an important market town, vital to the North West’s economic future and development. This award places the spotlight firmly on the town for all to see.

“My congratulations go to all the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to promote a town with such vibrancy and potential.”
