Dawn Gibbins MBE

Dawn was conceived in the Scottish highlands when her parents were on a camping holiday and born at daybreak on a beautiful summer’s day.  She was aptly  called Dawn Heather, although once you know her the middle name could just as appropriately have been Love, as she possesses the biggest heart of anyone else breathing.   As the daughter of the great British inventor, Peter Gibbins, the inventor of seamless resin flooring, she’s a born and bred Congletonian.   Her mother, Vera Banks, was one of  a big Congleton family of ten, and Dawn is now mother to what she regards as two ‘sensational’ daughters, Michelle and April.

 

Dawn’s the Founder and MD of a stunning business based in Bosley, Barefoot Living; her company has three divisions Barefoot Floor Couture in UK , Barefoot Floor Couture ( Brazil ) and Barefoot Maids & Laundry service.  Dawn’s MBE was awarded for services to industry but what her staff & clients feel it should stand for is what sums her up - Making Business Enjoyable.

 

Dawn has lived in Congleton all her life apart from three years at age twenty when she  travelled around Europe and lived in the South of France,  which she recalls, ‘was - oh la la, what a wonderful experience!’

Dawn says passionately of her town of birth, ‘I love the spirit of Congleton People – the community spirit , the passion , the local entrepreneurs. I love the countryside around Congleton , I love running up the Cloud. I love walking around the lakes. I love the country pubs that surround Congleton, I love the restaurants and the fun friendly people that serve you in them .  I used to absolutely adore the Carnival – this is something that really needs reviving'.

'I want Congleton to turn in to a vibrant social town centre,  with unique boutique shops , wicked street cafes and restaurants, weekly events and monthly festivals and celebrations.  I want Congleton to have some spectacular hotels and spas so we can entice visitors to come to our town and chill and make friends in our sensational town.’

Dawn has the spirit, passion and above all the will to succeed in everything.  Her family crest has an insignia engraved on it in Latin that reads, Nitor Doner Supero.  This translates as  ‘ I strive until I overcome’ which in no small part sums up this remarkable giving lady.

Dawn’s view of the team she has attracted to her side to help in the rebranding exercise is that by working together they can overcome any un-necessary obstacles that appear in their path.  In her words, ‘ TEAM stands for Together Everyone Achieves More’ and she is determined to Enrich , Awaken and Revive Congleton’.  

She generously commissioned & paid for the Atmospheric Survey of Congleton, carried out by Top Engineer, Simon Brown.   She believes that all residents now need to take note of the atmosphere  being created in their town and work on making it a beautiful , happy, healthy and prosperous town. Together it can be done with passion and courage.

Dawn’s plea to the town is,

‘So come on fellow Congletonians;  come and join our TEAM;  we need as many volunteers as possible.  We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful world of Congleton, Beartown, Where Friends are Made.’
