Len Smith Len Smith is the man who developed our website from scratch – one hundred pages in a record two weeks! Len started working in computers in the 1960s and spent 18 years with IBM, the last three or four being a blissful time in Paris as a European product manager. For the past 20 odd years he has run his own business, Copywriting On Demand, writing copy for organisations as diverse as Vodaphone, The Finance Leasing Association, Lloyds, PricewaterhouseCoopers, a number of multinational pharmaceutical companies and our own Dawn Gibbins’ new Barefoot venture which, in its second year has already gone international. Married for almost 50 years (a world record?) he has three sons. He lives in a rambling old vicarage in Yorkshire that has the distinction of having been built by the Brönte sisters’ Uncle Fennel. Charlotte’s earliest recorded letter was written from the vicarage during one of the children’s brief holidays there. His interests have included competitive rallying (including an attempt at the Monte Carlo Rally and the Paris Marrakesh), and paragliding. These days he is content with art and opera. He has enjoyed building the Beartown website because “The team is such a great bunch of people. All very different, all passionate about the town and the project. They have a real buzz.”
PS Len's latest book 'How to be a copywriter - earn money from home' has just been published. |
