Mr William Guy Gibson wins first prize in our Best Front Garden contestKeen Congleton gardener, Mr William Guy Gibson was delighted to win this year’s Congleton Best Front Garden Competition, having come third last year. Deputy Town Mayor Dave Martin and Margaret Williamson from Congleton in Bloom were on hand to present Mr Gibson with his winning certificate and £30 worth of vouchers from the sponsor Four Oaks Garden Supplies. Second Place went to Mrs Margaret Dulson and Third Place to Mrs Pat Cox also from Elm Road. The competition was organised by Congleton Town Council and Congleton in Bloom and was judged by two members of Congleton’s Horticultural Society. The judges were particularly impressed with the flower baskets, window baskets and borders, commenting on the variety and quality of plants and the effort taken to maintain the garden and make the area so attractive. Deputy Mayor Dave Martin said: “I would like to congratulate all three winners. They have all made a great effort to make their gardens beautiful and I’m sure they bring great pleasure to their owners and to everyone who sees them. I would also like to thank the sponsors for providing the prizes, the judges and the Chronicle for helping to publicise this competition.”
