Simon Cowell - these bears have got talent!

Congleton's Teddy Bears came in from the wood...

...to picnic in the park

The Teddy Bears Picnic was a brilliant success with over 500 people attending - plus their teddy bears! The event gave the community, young and old, the chance to come together, enjoying the beautiful park and the sunshine. Decorated with banners, the park was unrecognizable with so many hundreds of balloons - enjoyed by the children, young and old.

There was a variety of stalls available to the community, all of which were free. This included a teddy bears hospital (run by Somerfordpre-school) Storytelling (by Congleton Library) and a "rock your teddy to sleep dance with Jo-Anne Bayley. The Children were also entertained by three life size bears (costumes kindly donated by Kings Party Emporium) that danced, hugged and played with the children throughout the event; making the picnic even more wonderful.

Music by Silk FM added to the atmosphere. They played bear related songs such as "Teddy bears' picnic," and "Bear (!) necessity."

Wow! What a wonderful event

Dawn Gibbins MBE seems to be having as much fun as the kids!

"It's fantastic," says Dawn, "to see so much fun. Thanks to the Bear Team, especially Jackie, Kirsty and Karen for all their hard work - not to mention all those people who gave up their time and resources to make the day so memorable.

Simon Cowell - you'd better get booking those dancing bears!"

The Teddy's Hospital was a welcome respite for all those teddies with upset stomachs from too much picnic fare

Just in case things got too hot, the fire brigade were thereto lend a helping hand.

The Beartown Bears meet MC Mayor, Congleton’s Deputy Mayor, Dave Martin, acted as Master of Ceremonies at the Teddy Bear’s picnic.
