BEFORE THE RACE

Parking To avoid conflict, there will only be limited parking within the school grounds so please car share wherever possible.  There are parking spaces in close proximity to the school, including on street, estate & service roads and priority will be given to car sharers.  Please park so that no inconvenience is caused to residents & please allow yourself time to find parking and to reach the registration desk.

Registration  On the day entries will be accepted until 9:15am – please go to Congleton High School (on Box Lane off Holmes Chapel Road CW12 4NS).  All Half Marathon finishers will receive their race T-Shirt when they have crossed the finish line. Our registration desk will be open from 8am until 9:15am on the day.  Your race number must be worn on the front of your vest and we would ask that you do NOT obscure our sponsors’ logos.  Changing facilities are available for both men & ladies at the school, but it should be noted there are no shower facilities.

Sports goods We will have sports goods for sale on the day.

START

The Half and Quarter Marathons will both start at 0930 prompt from outside the front of the school in Box Lane.  Please do not block Box Lane before the start, but warm up within the school grounds and playing fields until called forward by marshals.

DURING THE RACE

The races consist of a single lap circuit taking in town and country roads, starting at Congleton High School and finishing at the end of Black Firs Lane.  Miles will be marked.  The leading half marathon runners will be preceded by an official lead car throughout the race. Marshals will be stationed at all junctions and salient points along the route.  For your Health and Safety, the early part of the course is along main roads and will only be partly police controlled.  After about 2-3 miles the course is along country lanes and special care must be taken, as you will be sharing the highway with normal country traffic.  The public will be made aware in advance of the races, but a responsible attitude is important.  We will also have sweepers who are experienced runners to run at the tail end of both races.  Please keep to the LEFT hand side of the road at all times unless otherwise directed by a marshal. Drinks will be available on the Half Marathon route at approximately 3, 6 and 9 miles and the finish.  Medical Aid will be on hand at Congleton High School and this will be in radio communication with St. John's Ambulance teams in the field.  Marshals at refreshment points will also have mobile phones.

MP3 PLAYERS

In the interests of safety for all runners and spectators, could you please refrain from wearing MP3 players during the race.  Any runners who choose to ignore this request are at risk of being disqualified.

AFTER THE RACE

The finish will remain open until 1200 or whenever the course is clear.  Every finisher will receive a medal as they finish.  Prizes for all races will be presented in the school as soon as possible.  Only one prize per competitor will be awarded and the organizers' decision is final.  Tea/coffee & light refreshments will be available inside the school.  Results will be posted on Congleton Harriers’ website (www.congleton-harriers.co.uk) as soon as possible after the race.  Results are also available by post for 50p and can be ordered on the day.

NUMBER SWAPPING
We recognise that pre-entrants may get injured before race day and so wish to pass on their race number to family or friends.  Unlike many races, we're happy to accommodate this, but please on race day can you let us know by completing a new entry form (for insurance and safety purposes) but there will be NO CHARGE.  Also, during the race if you have entered the Half, but decide to drop down to the Quarter, or vice-versa, that's OK too - but please, please let one of our finishing marshals know.  Otherwise you will inadvertently delay our results service.

We look forward to seeing you and wish you a good race.
