Volunteers needed to shine for libraries!

Would you like to work with children and families in the summer holidays? Do you enjoy books and reading? Join our team of Summer Reading Challenge Champions and help children aged 4-12 years to complete their reading challenge.

This year’s theme is Circus Stars and you could be a star for Cheshire East Libraries. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers aged 16 or over to talk to children in the library about reading, to help them chose their next book and to encourage them to complete the challenge. You will register the children, give out stickers and incentives and you can join in the award ceremony in September if you like. There will also be a chance to help with events, activities, crafts and treasure hunts.

We provide training and support in a stimulating environment and your contribution to the library service will be appreciated and recognised. Volunteering can give you the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the community, make new friends and gain some skills at the same time.

The challenge will be running in all Cheshire East libraries from Saturday 9th July until September 3rd and award ceremonies take place in September and October.
If you’re interested and can commit at least 7 hours of your time over the summer, please contact your local library for an application form. We look forward to meeting you.
Closing date is 21st May 2011
