Wednesday 13 July is IN BLOOM Judgment Day!

Congleton will be welcoming the North West in Bloom judges to town on Wednesday 13 July – and are looking for your support to make sure the town is looking its very best on the day!

The judges will be comparing Congleton with similar sized towns across the North West and will be looking at the quality of floral displays and planting, how Congleton takes care of its environment and community involvement.

Members of Congleton Town Council, Cheshire East Council and volunteers who have helped the In Bloom effort will meet with the judges. As it is not possible to show off the whole town the following route has been agreed to cover the judges criteria:

  • Meet at Astbury Mere Country Park 9.30am
  • Travel around Ennerdale Drive  – (residential area)
  • Padgbury Lane and Heath Farm (public house)
  • Blackfirs School (meet the children and gardening club)
  • Back towards town via Holmes Chapel and West Road
  • St Mary’s Parish Church
  • Clayton Bypass and John Bradshaw Business Park
  • Manchester Road – Lower Heath Play Area
  • Back into Town via Rood Hill
  • Congleton Park
  • Town Centre and Community Gardens
  • Moody Street to the Congleton Cemetery
  • Priestly Court and Priestly Fields Allotments

Take the judges to meet the Buglawton in Bloom group so that they can then take the judges on a tour of Buglawton.

Organisers are hoping that the judges will be even more impressed with Congleton and Buglawton this year. Last year the town was runner-up in the large town category and reached silver gilt standard.

Cheshire East and Congleton Town Council will be working on the route, but the group is looking for support of businesses and residents to make sure the area in front of their property is litter free on the day.

The results of the competition will be announced in September.

Anyone who can spare an hour or two on the night before the competition to do some final preparations and litter picking should meet at the Community Garden in Lawton Street at 7pm.
