CONGLETON BOOK LAUNCH raised £2,600 for local charitiesNot long ago we reported Local historian Lyndon Murgatroyd's launch of his latest book on Congleton '"Who lived in a house like this?".
Lyndon updates us: I had 500 books published for the launch There are a few left in Congleton Museum and the Tourist Information Centre and I have 3 copies left so it is almost sold out. I said right at the beginning that all the money from the sales of the book would go to local chariites and I feel obliged to let people know where the money has gone. To date, it has made around £2,600 for local Chariities. They include Mayor's fund (Congleton) Congleton Players, Congleton Talking Newspaper, Life After the Services, (Congleton branch) Macmillan Cancer Support (Congleton Branch), St James and St Stephens' churches, Electric Picture House project, Congleton Museum, Christmas Storehouse (food for the poor) NSPCC Congleton Chronicle Toy Appeal, , Ruby's Fund, Crossroads Care, Congleton Choral Society Children of Rumania (Congleton) and Trinity Amateur Operatic Society,
I would like to thank everybody who purchased a copy of the book, because without you doing that, I could not help these worthwhile causes. I have letters of acknowledgement from all the above charities should anybody desire to see them.
The book will not be reprinted so those who have purchased it will find that it will, like the other books I have written increase in value.
Thank you for your help Kind regards
Lyndon Murgatroyd |
