Welcome » Bearmania » BEARMANIA

Bearmania is coming to Congleton

Bearmania is going to be a festival with enormous public appeal. It should attract over 1,000 additional visitors to the area.

Join in and be part of a unique celebration of Congleton - the little town with a big heart (as the Mercian Regiment has christened us).

For eighteen whole weeks, starting in May, more than fifty giant bears will create a dazzling trail through prime locations in our town. Each bear – brilliantly decorated, five feet  tall and weighing 60kg – will be a unique work of art.

The bears will be ‘designed’ by local businesses, school children, local volunteer organisations and local residents.

The event will be advertised across all media including press, radio & national television, raising the profile of Congleton as a tourist destination.

Animals Asia Foundation

We will be supporting Animals Asia, an organisation dedicated to saving and protecting bears that are currently being hiddeously abused.

More about Animals Asia on the My Beartown site

Fifty incredible, unique 5ft tall bear sculptures will direct visitors on a trail through the town of Congleton that will celebrate both the town’s cultural identity and its status as an area of outstanding beauty.

Visitors will be able to follow an orienteering style trail pamphlet, which will point out areas of natural beauty and historical facts associated with our great town, prompting them to stop and visit local businesses - who in turn will have created merchandise around the Bearmania theme.
